New Hearth

We have relocated since last burning season. The new to us house came with a Jotul 3cb sitting atop the lovely baby blue and white tile hearth in the first pic below. We were torn between the Jotul and our 5660 but my sometimes crazy work schedule helped decide on the 5660 with the Jotul put away for an emergency. Before the pellet stove landed, I had to do something with that hearth. A few pics to detail the build follow. I grouted it today and that leaves some molding to install at the floor transition and I will tackle the wall this weekend.

Here is a shot of today's test fire. Only in the 70's outside and I've about had enough sweating. It works and all the new paint is cured by now. Still need to add trim at floor level and re-paint that bad color match job. Now to tend to the stash, only one ton of FSU in house so far. That's not going to cut it.

Looks much better, but why did you make the hearth so much bigger. I think I would have squeezed it between the baseboard heat.

If you look in the original picture, the wood floor does not extend under the hearth. So I'm betting the OP made it the same size for that reason alone.

I turned down on a USSC 5660 a year ago after I saw it in a TSC store but your install makes it look very good. Good job on a terrible blue design.
