New P43 Harman Owner

First and foremost I would like to thank all that have posted on here and helped me in making my decision! I have been lurking in the background for some time and joined the forum a short time ago and this is my first post.
I started out looking at a Droplet and an Englander from the local hardware stores and expanded my search to local stove & fireplace stores looking at Lennox, Enviro, Quadra-Fire and Harman. It became very clear if I was looking for support in the future the stove & fireplace stores was the way to go.
After lots of research I narrowed it down to the Enviro Mini or the P38. I liked the auto light of the Mini and the P38 for the fact there was a bit less daily/weekly maintenance.
After reading countless posts here I decided on the P38 and dropped in to see my local dealer as I walked towards him he ask if I had made my decision yet and I said yes the P43. Talk about impulse, but now I have the best of both
Our stove will be delivered on November 28 and hopefully I can add some valuable comments for others in the future.

Welcome, Fundy. This is also my first season with a new p43, just recently self installed. I sure love the auto start and the less cleaning compared to my old ussc 6039. So far it has been a great addition. I also added a skytech 3301p wireless programmable thermostat. Also a great addition, I'm sure you will love it.

Your wood stove is older than me. I have a P43 as well, you are correct about the daily maintenance, I went from cleaning the burn pot every day, to emptying an ash tray once every ton of pellets.

If I had any advice to share, it looks like your hearth is fairly long coming out from the wall, I'd try to keep the stove out from the wall far as you can. The back top cover (behind hopper) on mine is about 1ft from the wall, leaving about a foot and a half for the lower covers where the chimney piping comes out. Its just enough room to get to the panels to remove them and clean out with a vacuum, I'm 6'3 and 280 so I don't fit in many places taking that into account. Having extra room would be even better for me. You'll probably be around the same distance or a few more inches because you'll have a 6" coming out of the bottom, a 90, how ever much it takes to get up to the chimney, another 90, and an adapter to whatever size piping is there now.

I can walk the stove myself, but if I don't have to, it's one less thing. Especially if you seal/cement your piping.

Very nice. You're gonna love the stove/heat. I like the side area where a few bags of pellets can be stored. How come you opted not to go with an OAK?

I did not go with the OAK on the suggestion of the installer at the store I purchased it from.

Hope to have more pictures later as it was too dark to take pictures without a flash.

And yes the wife is already talking about some trim and tile

Thinking of putting a cover on the ``box`` to the right of the stove and dumping my pellets into it and using a large scoop to fill the hopper.

Welcome to the forum Fundy (as in the Bay of ). Stove looks really nice in place. I added an OAK about two weeks after we installed our stove and am so glad I did. Something to possibly think about for the future... Happy burning.

Nope. I'm no longer using that hearth pad and originally put that tile in there to sorta tie in the look of the granite used on the pad. Might grab another tile for this one in the spring. I think I mentioned in the DIY thread that cutting the tile indoors isn't the best idea. Stone dust everywhere.
