Yesterday went to Lowe's and got a new wood splitter. It's the troy built 27 ton. Went out this morning and cut and split some hard maple. I Love it. Also just got the ms 361 with a 20 inch bar. I was going to get the huskee 22 ton from tractor supplybut when I went to go get it could not get any help. A very young girl was working and I asked for someone to show me one and nobody would. Asked for a manager and there wasn't one there. So I said I guess your telling me to go to Lowe's and by there's and she said well I guess. But I'm glad I got the troy built instead. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this site. I've learned a lot since finding the light:p

I would highly recommend two plates of 1/4" steel approx 12" x 12" bolted onto the existing holes in those log holders. Nothing better than having a table to work from & to hold those bigger pieces untill you can chisel them down to size. Looks like it would really protect your filter housing too should you drop a larger chunk on that side.

Here's my 31 ton MTD with wings, post #15

That's the first thing I said to the wife when I got home. There's also a hydraulic line running right where the exhaust comes out that will need rerouted. I'm 6 foot 3 so I like it in the horizontal position the best. Thanks for the link on how to make a support that's exactly what I was looking to do.
