I've said it before, but that is my fear. I wouldn't mind trying out a Fistars X27, but I don't want to make it my regular splitting tool. I split several cords a year by hand, so swinging a sharp axe a few thousand times a year stacks the odds against me.I bought an X27 for a good friend... he seems to love it, and has kept every one of his toes, thus far.
28 ton log splitter......... bought collectively between me and the bank manager

Who is this bank manager you speak of?
WOAH. That's a biggie. A few follow up questions:
Did it fit under your tree? If so, can you post pictures of your tremendous Christmas tree? Who is this bank manager you speak of?
What were you using before? I thought you split everything with a gas splitter?Got myself an X27 among other things for Christmas. That axe rocks!. Use a splitting block/stump and keep your toes. And the edge on the axe.
Her indoors 'let' me buy it as a Christmas Pressie. I can't believe how much easier it is after so many years with the X27, but also can't believe how much work it still is processing your own wood.Who is this bank manager you speak of?
The dynamic duo. Boom. You'll excuse me while I pat myself on the back then .
Wifey did the wall treatment,![]()
I have spent 66 years getting that attitude just right. I ain't gonna mess with it now.
Used mauls for 30 years before the gas splitter and have a little electric for those last minute "Whoops, need little ones to stuff the night load." now. But even with these old shot shoulders that X27 impresses me. Probably wouldn't have bought the electric if this thing had been around here. And wish the X27 had been around for those 30 years.
