If an elbow is needed somewhere in your black stove pipe, where is the best place to put it? Right at the stove connection, as high as you can before connecting to chimney?

Ideally there will be some vertical pipe before the elbow. But it depends to a certain extent on what happens after the elbow. We have an offset right at the stove and it works well, but that is because the pipe then goes straight up for 18ft and we have an easy breathing stove.
