Hi all, I have a Jotul F400 set-up in front of my fireplace. I have an 1850s poorly insulated house with lots of leaks. I would like to attach an outside air intake and run it through the fireplace's ash dump. Does anyone know if there is a limit on the length of pipe for the outside air intake? The ash dump goes straight down about 10 feet into the basement to the clean out. Would it make sense to use the unconditioned air from the basement by having the intake pipe terminate down there? Is that safe? Alternatively, I would have to go down 10 feet to the clean out and come back up 8 feet and then there would be another 6 foot horizontal run to reach the outside. Thanks for your opinions.
