Looking for input from some of the guys who recently purchased this insert. Trying to get one from my local dealer, and asked them to check which series would ship, while letting them know that my wife prefers the Series C.
Dealer called back and they said they didn't know anything about a Series C, but were able to order an option to reduce the mantel clearance....Not sure if this is the same as the C or not....
Does anybody know if the Series C is replacing the B, or will both be available to order? I'm a little concerned, since I have no idea what the dealer is going to receive.

Does the dealer know anything about the Series A or B? Ask them to get on the phone and verify that you are getting new stock and not something that has been sitting in the warehouse for a year or two.

Thanks for the reply, begreen. They actually weren't aware of any different versions. They have a summit insert in their showroom that they thought was the latest version, but it appears to be the A series, with the ash lip right in front of the door.

Specify Series C model in your order. Not sure exactly what that point is when they switched to series C. I get the impression that they are currently selling both series B leftovers and series C at present. The series C will give you lower mantle clearance requirement without needing the heat shield that would be necessary for a series B to get a lower clearance.

Show the dealer this page and ask if he can get this model for you:

If they say yes, be sure that it says Summit model C clearly on your order.

Dave / begreen, I just got off the phone with Pacific Energy, and apparently the change to C was about 3 months ago. After asking the lady a few questions, I think I got my answer. It sounds like my dealer's distributor has the Series B, and they ordered the mantle shield. I'm ok with either the B or C versions, I just didn't realize there was a mantle shield option and was concerned with what I was going to receive. Mantle clearance isn't a problem for me, so I will have them take that option back.
Thanks for the help, guys!

You can tell the Summit A from the Summit B by the EBT location. The A model has the EBT in front of the stove under the boost manifold. The B model has the EBT toward the rear of the stove, under the secondary manifold.

MFG -> Distributor -> Dealer ->User

You are at the mercy of the supply chain. As well as the distributor/dealer inventory stock rotation. Dealer show room could potentially could be showing a "C" series and you receive a 4 yr old stove from the dealer via the distributor

You could specify a manufactured after date, serial number greater than, or other details in your order. That should protect you from getting something outdated.

So, after thinking I knew what we were getting, the dealer actually managed to talk to the distributor and get the C series coming. Sounds like it should be here Monday for installation on the 18th. Good news!

That is actually the old new version.
The newest has no gap between the top plate and the surround.
The air is blown under the top lip now.
My free replacement was as the one pictured. I ain't complaining though.

Neither am I. Besides the lower clearance (which can be gotten around by adding the heat shield to the Series B) can't really see much better. I don't really care for the series C blower covers from the pics I've seen, and based on what someone who has a series C says about the fact that the cast top now forces the air to blow downward, not sure that's an improvement either.

Not recommending avoiding the series C, just not entirely convinced yet, that it's a significant improvement over the series B.
