Hogwildz

Minister of Fire
As discussed in another thread. from what I have seen while checking out my PE Summit baffle, secondary burn in the back is promoted, set up and expected. So when you think your rear baffle gasket is not sealed, it is, there is merely supposed to be secondary burn back there. I did not get photos of the holes I found back there, but can confirm I did feel them when I felt around inside the back channel hole.

My Hogmade gasket is like new, and I expect to last many, many years. Might have to start making them and providing them for a reasonable fee LOL.

Attached are pics of the Hogmade baffle gasket, secondary burn in back of the fire box, and a few shots of my wood storage in the living room. Being I live here alone now, I can get away with it ;-)

Also attached is a pic of the famous cave burn BB and other explain each year.

Where are the lava lamps? C,mon Hog, living the single life with a cool den like that you need a Jim Morrison Black Light poster and some Lava lamps... just kiddin'

I notice the secondaries coming out from the back rail, but, (blatant cross posting) but those generally are projected forward along the base of the baffle, i was hoping to generate the downward torch like what occurs along the center front by punching holes in the rear corners...

But you saw holes in the bottom back of the baffle? I do not recall those when I cleaned mine.

Nice pics capturing those rear secondaries.

Yes, I felt the holes inside, on the outside you wont see them, as they are under that rail that is attached to the bottom of the baffle. So yes, you will only get horizontal secondary back there. I suppose you could drill a hole on the bottom back near each corner to see if that would burn the rear corners down better. Keep in mind, those jets will also burn the wood faster back there. Not sure how much if any, this will affect your burn time. I would like to make more tunable jets that are angled and could be turned or swiveled and adjusted and locked into position, thus giving more options as to where to aim all the jets.

Nice secondaries Hogz. How long a blizzard do you think you could survive without having to leave your living room for wood?

I figure I have between 2 and 3 weeks wood there. Not sure, Last year didn't stack as high and got near 2 weeks.
I didn't get photos,. but I skipped the wood manger this year, and put a tarp on the deck over the back porch, and tarped the back & side, and stacked 3.5 cords of wood on pallets on the back porch. it is right outside the door.
So it don't get any closer or easier than I have it presently. I have a the remainder of winter worth of wood on my back porch just outside the door. Got to love that! I load the inside containers as I empty one, I move to another and refill the empty. Adds maisture to the dry house and dries and warms the wood for great starts & burning.

Great info on the back secondary feed Hog, thanks for posting. You've been a wealth of information on this stove.

Looks like you are setup for some serious winter weather with that stash of firewood.

is that a midnight sun brewery carpet?

Fantastic indoor wood storage. If it were not for the T.V. you could really get some wood in there.

Haha! I like how the stack height gradually decreases to allow unimpaired visibility to the t.v. set!!

LMAO, I have been actually eying up lcd flat screens, set it higher, and stack the wood along that whole wall.
I don't even watch that tv that much.
The rug was the ex's, she left it here. More of a hippy chick thing, not from a brewery.

Nice pics.

All that wood is verrry sexy

There could be a Harley headed South soon. ;-P

Which I think would be kinda nice.

I'll refrain from comments, but kathleen- my smartass meter went off the scale with that last one  Hog's- the left side of your hearth looks ripe for modifications. I'll bet you could move the sofa, build a deco. rack, and get at least a face cord in there. Boy, do I see that in my pointy head.
