Put a deposit down on the Ideal Steel today, and thought I would share some pics from the factory. I was lucky enough to stop off while they were burning in one.

Awfully nice people working there...

Maybe that's why I kinda like the basic stove? It is big and steel, after all. And I like the color accents.

The crazy stuff hanging on the sides, however, will never appeal.

Nice pics !!
What did you order burndatwood? We came up with the black bear and cubs design. Helped get the wife on board, and didn't really cost extra with the intro package dealio.

Apparently the designer at Woodstock has a completely different taste than I have. As long as I am not forced to buy any of their stoves that's fine with me. There seem to be enough people out there that like them. I never argue about design preferences; I merely state my opinion/impression. Everyone should be free to choose what they put in their home.

Osagebow, not sure what we're going to get, but like the options to make it more than just a plain metal box. Gotta agree with others that I wouldn't go for any of the crazy things hanging off the side, but it helps to get the wife on board to have the side panel options.

Indeed.....plus it seems the salmon is going to get away!

That's an understatement - I've never dealt with so many helpful and friendly people all under one business roof as Woodstock Soapstone.

Congrats on the stove. I'm expecting delivery on a refurbed Palladian next week - it will be my 3'd WS stove so I guess that makes me a WS junkie!

Thanks fire_man. Congrats to you to - as I understand it, there's a long list for the refurbed Woodstock stoves. There are quite a few Woodstock afficianados out there, and for me, working in West Leb NH where Woodstock Soapstone is located, it feels good to keep my money local. It's been a long time since I burned wood to keep warm, and I looked long and hard at some other stoves mentioned often on this forum (BK, PE), but I just didn't want a big, plain box. My main concern, of course, is reducing costs for heating our 1880 farmhouse, and not spending $6,000 a year doing it. I sure hope the WS stoves live up to their reputation, since by next heating season we'll have two of them. If they do, I'm looking forward to recouping my investment in three years, tops. Now to get to work stacking wood behind the barn. Eight cords a year? ==c

Ask for the Chris Neufeld version! They have one with Grizzly Catching Salmon and lots of cool stuff. Ask them about the version, it's cool and of course I am honored to have them as my friends.

I had asked them if this version was available to the public(me) and I didn't get an answer. I wasn't sure?

I realize that. I've followed it. I just didn't know if it was available to the public.

Only the ones with a checkbook or credit card. >>

It means it is available to anybody in the "public" that wants to pay for it.

Cool thread. I'm also on the pre-order list. Have yet to design an idea for the side plates yet, thinking of doing a profile of my boxer. Sticking with black on black for color.

I think the idea and the mods are neat. I absolutely love the price and specs of the stove as well: relatively inexpensive steel hybrid stove that you can "soup up" if you want.

Some of it really looks "steampunk" -ish in design and element. Definitely not right for everyone though, although the base model by itself isn't so shabby it can get kind of funky with the add-ons.

I can definitely see the eagle and flag being a big hit in my neck of the woods.

I would probably just go with the base model alone however if I were to get it.
