Hi. We have a new Lopi Liberty which has the secondary burn tubes (no catalytic combuster though). We have a lot of Ponderosa Pine on our property and therefore a ton of pine cones.

If the pine cones are dry, is there any harm in using them as fire starter? They work great for that purpose, but if it's going to create problems with sap or creosote, then I'll pass.

No problem. I wouldn't fill up the stove with them for a regular fire, but they should be fine when dried out, to use for starters.
