Hi folks,

I am talking to a guy that has a Jotul Firelight #12 that he wants to sell. I am having trouble find out very much information on the web, including here, so I thought I'd ask for help. The only info I can get from the seller is Jotul #12, purchased new in 1994, Certified by Omni Test Labs in Beaverton, OR (It has a label), seller states stove was rarely used and in excellent condition. My questions are; Is it a Catalitic stove? Did they make this model as a non-cat? Is a $1,000 price reasonable if the condition is as stated?..... I am concerned that since Jotul no longer makes Cats, and that model has beeen discontinued, parts will become harder and harder to obtain. I have found Cats for sale ($150-$170) but that's all. Any words of experience with this model will be greatly appreciated.

Read about them in the reviews section of this site. I researched them (the reviews) throughly and had talked myself out of a Jotul F600 Firelight after reading some pretty lousy reviews about the "Firelight." It was only upon closer inspection that I realized they were all referring to a CAT model called the Firelight. I ended up buy the F 600 non-CAT after all and so far so good.

Yes, I did. From what I can deduce from review dates and purchase dates, the 600 is a newer version of Firelight. What I would like to know specifically is was the model #12 Firelight (c. 1993-4) manufactured as both a cat and non-cat, or just a cat only. I do not want a catalitic stove. The guy I'm talking doesn't know and I am not sure what to have him look for.

Thanks for your input

The Firelight 12 was a 2.4 GPH cat stove. The Firelight 12CB was a 4.4 GPH non-cat.

GPH meaning grams per hour of emissions.

Excellent, thanks for that info Brother Bart
