used to be that a big black walnut was worth something for lumber, but not in 18" chunks. is that no longer so back east?

The ad says it was taken down by the power company, and they don't generally use log trucks, just big shredders. Plus, most sawyers try and stay away from "yard" trees. Too much risk of embedded metal in the wood. Ruining a blade or two, plus the time lost cutting would completely kill the profit from any tree

Even in 18" lenghts, he could sell a good bit of that to a local woodturning club. black walnut is beautiful stuff!
