Anyone spot this on the Woodstock Progress blog page?

[Hearth.com] Progress Hybrid; highest rated stove in 20 yrs. of EPA testing

Marketing.

Serious? Those aren't actual test results for the stove?

Not saying they aren't. Do you honestly think this stove puts out more btu's than an equinox or a buck 94? There are only so many btu's in a load of wood. The woodstock may milk those available btu's better. At the end of the day, you can put a whole lot more wood in an equinox or buck.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very interested in the woodstock myself. I'm considering moving and it's on my list of potential stoves when I do move.

Dang it. Somebody beat the 1.6 gph of my 30. Off to the dump it goes.

Pretty impressive efficiency numbers nonetheless. Dayum.

Numbers are just numbers, I'm sure they achieved them during the testing but what does it really mean to us in the real world with cord wood? I'm reading the reviews by those burning the stove to find out. :)

When it's self-loading and thermostatic, call me.

Since when did the EPA cert labs start testing efficiency? Didn't do it before.

Hmmmm. All the ones I've seen have been pretty darn happy with their PH's.

Hang on to it. You might expect a bit better from a stove costing 3-6 times as much. Still, my hat is off to Woodstock for pulling out some great numbers. The high end btus/hr are impressive for burning 2x4s.

Well it's the only standardized numbers we have to go by and if any of your stoves looked as good as those you'd be bagging up a storm.

I take any numbers I see from the EPA with a grain of salt including the ones for my stove. There seems to be a huge disconnect on their part of the testing from real world performance.

You have to admit those numbers are impressive. Just you have to admit the 30 nc's numbers are impressive (especially the HD end of season online prices). They are both wonderful heaters. 30nc's bringing wood heat to the masses. Just imagine if Home Depot's so called customer service had a clue about the stoves they are selling, they would sell the snot out of those Englanders! The Progress bringing wood heating into the 21st century, with break through innovation in design, flexibility and technology. Just imagine what kind of numbers that bad boy would put up with some oak out of Dennis' stash!

I'm dying to burn some wood! Sick of watching the rabbit food coming down the shoot :-)

When I first saw the word hybrid, what came to mind was the use of dual fuel, as in wood and gas, not dual technology as in secondary burn and cat. It looks like combining the two technologies can give you the best of both and not force you to choose one over the other.

Maybe someday they'll come up with a dual fuel hybrid as well where they use gas in an afterburner to acheive the ultimate in low emissions.

And that's what matters most!

mine's 1.4 gpm.... are we talking toilet flushes

If so, that is not as clean. EPA woodstove emissions are typically measured in grams/hour. The difference of 1 or 2 grams per hour is pretty small. These are all very clean burning stoves.

PS: can you add your stove to your signature?
