Hey...

On the Vigilant what is the position you run the flue to start it, and what position to run it in the thermostat position? The paperwork is confusing.

Also, what is the best way to remove surface rust from around the oval flue?

I believe on the Vigilant's there is a damper which when closed promotes some sort of non-catalytic secondary reburn.
When starting the stove, you generally want a clear path up the flue.

A wire brush will remove light surface rust, and brushes come in various grades of "hardness".
