Friend of my wife posted a pic of her puppy warming up beside the woodstove. You may note that this is installed directly over what appears to be vinyl flooring. When I mentioned that this appears to be an unsafe installation she responded by saying the woodstove company never told her that she needed a hearth . . .
I shudder to think what the rest of the installation may look like . . .
And then a day later she posts a pic of her young grandson (maybe 3 or 4 years of age) holding an Aim N' Flame lighter with the caption that he is helping to light the woodstove. Yikes . . . a core message of fire safety for children is that matches and lighters are tools, not toys and should not be used by anyone other than an adult. Her response: It has a safety switch and he never lit it.
