Should I sharpen before use? Any other care and feeding instructions?

Yeah, I split some ash and cedar with it and a bit of walnut. Much of the walnut it just bounced off of repeatedly. This and the fact that I had three people ask if I was going to sharpen it is the reason I felt compelled to ask on here.

I've never sharpen a maul. But never dulled one bad enough it needed it either.
It's not an axe.
Are you going to sharpen it ?

I hadn't planned on it unless the consensus thought I should. As you said, it's not an axe.
