Guy said he had a tree that was dead and wanted it cut down. Thought it was silver maple from far away but as I got closer noticed some thorn patches on it. Honey Locust!! 3 truck loads worth of it! Stuff was heavy as sin too! Didn't seem dead to me.

Yep dead now!! Got 6 truck loads of free wood today! All within a 5 mile radius. Power company did some trimmin and I was collectin. Got a big load of White Ash and 2 loads of Hacberry and Maple.

I've never burned it either. This is my first year burning. Have a lot of good stuff waiting in the wings.

I brought home 3 loads of Honey Locust today. Good stuff. Burns hotter than a honeymoon couple.

Burns real good after it dries out.Takes every bit as long to dry as oak.
