My boys and I have been busy preparing firewood in Holtz Hausens. Would these season faster covered or uncovered? I have have 5 HHs and another 3 cords ready the next seasons. This firewood preparation can become addicting.

Leave it open to dry, cover in fall. Repeat as neccessary!

Air dry = nice seasoned wood.

Just curious....how many cords in each pile? Beautiful display, one can feel the warmth already!!

The stacks are roughly 8 feet in diameter and 7 feet tall so I calculate roughly 2.5 cords each.

I like how they seem to be sturdy and hopefully won't fall down. They also don't take a lot of space.

Very nice Quadman. When I get a load of logs in a month or so I am going to try stacking it in this style. You did a fantastic job with them. :-)

Very nice! going to try it out myself...if for no other reason but it has my interest

Great looking pic...credit to all your hard effort. I'd say leave as is, unless you mean just a small cover on the very top as a roof. I put a row of heavy duty plastic bags on top of my rows, but then again Ireland is famed for being wet ;-)

These have dried down just great, they are mostly ash and beech

Cheers

;-)

Quadman...those are just too damn pretty to ever cover. Before the snow falls, just string some Christmas lights on 'em. :-) Rick

Quadman, where did you get the idea for those lovely wood stacks? The name sounds Danish or Norwegian
