Here in Georgia, it is 44F with a 10 mile an hour wind and cloudy. I'm planning on burning for the next few days. Love that radiant heat.

I never say never but looks like the minisplit is going to be carrying the load from now on.

I burned 2 full cords so far this winter. I use the heat pump during the day when it is cloudy outside and above freezing start the Ashford around 8 pm in the evening. A full load of ash will last 24 h.

Aside from a 2 week cold spell right after Christmas - it looks like our winter just got going 2-1/2 weeks ago. From zero to 3 feet of snow in 2 weeks. It was -14c by the time I checked the thermometer this morning. So not near shutting down yet - but I'm hopeful maybe it's close after another month.

Thought I was going to have a ton leftover at the end of Feb. Instead nearing the end of what I was planning on burning this season. 70's coming on wed, that might be the end here...

I plan on stopping by the end of april...wonder if spring will ever get here...got the sh!ts of this weather.
Its time to be outside doing out doorsie stuff.Bein a first year wood burner...I think we might have burnt about 2.5 cords. I have about 10 cords CSS n 2 cords to split n stack yet.....

I figure I have about 3 more solid weeks, then a fire here and there for the chillier nights. I will also be just under 4 cords for the season with no boiler usage for heat this year.

I dunno I can see us burning for a few more weeks easily. Still chilly in the evenings even when it is 45 out during the day. Just takes the chill out of the air and saves oil.
I just burn a bit differently and run the stove at 250-300 or so. I guess as long as we still have snow in the yard I’ll keep burning.

• I said this in another thread too, it’s still pretty cold up here with lots of snow on the ground yet and the lake hasn’t even begun to melt on the shores yet and it has 3 feet of ice on it yet. I see Saturday night it’s going down to 3 above but the next night it will only be down to 10 so that’s a improvement I guess...agh..

No way to end burning in March...or April...or May. We real burners need those morning/evening fires called shoulder. The time to burn softwoods.
Only wimps say "shut down" . Man up.

When I get back up north I'll need to choose between the wood boiler or the living room insert. We'll have to wait and see what mother nature brings. RFH dosen't work that good in the shoulder seasons.

I had a fire this morning since it was down to 48F, but now it is 80.4F and the low tonight will be 55F.
Even without any heat tonight the house will be 65F inside in the morning.
So no more hauling wood.
Time to dust the roto-tiller off. Tomato sandwiches in 3 months!

Thought I might be done 2 weeks ago, but I'm still on a 24-hour burn cycle. Snowing this morning, and I'm just burning the coals down before stacking the Princess full once again.

Woke up this morning to -27*C outside - got a nice load of jack pine ripping wide open! Supposed to be below zero here for at least another week - slow start to spring, and no end in immediate sight for my stove!

No one told WI that winter is over. Got 8 inches and some good cold wind overnight. It was just starting to dry out a little around here too Time to bring more wood to my rack looks like it isn’t getting above 30 until next Sunday.

We'll be burning for another month maybe off and on. It's going to be a slow start to spring like last year. I burned in May last year.

We're going south for a week the last week of April. That will be my shutdown target. House might be a little chilly when we get back, but nothing will freeze.

I was all over-confident when February was winding down because I had lots of wood left and winter seemed to be dying quick. Then a whole month of garbage weather left me with just a little bit of wood left to get us through April. This a month of 30 degree nights where the stove gets loaded frequently. If we could get a stretch in the 60s soon I might call it quits until October.
