Man this stuff is great to split. Even the knarlies can be avoided or salvaged. Savage, I know what you mean about cutting into nice kindiling now. Only took me a few hours on and off today to split this batch. I like it :). When do we change the clocks? Ran out of daylight dang nabit!

Nice work Bacffin, looks like you will be busy for a while.

Very nice looking pile of wood
Worrying about the clock already. Might need to add lights to the splitter LOL :)

Indeed, it can be fun splitting that stuff. Just a touch with the wedge and it is split. Most times when I'm splitting it the wedge moves about 4" maximum. Only problem I'd have is you have the splitter set up all wrong for me. Has to be veritical!

I was thinking of some auxilary lighting for the Kubota! You must get limited daylight up there Dave.

Yea, I'm working at getting comfortable using the splitter verticle. I do it for the really big rounds, but it bothers my back.

Nice job bacfinn. I like silver maple as well and after last years warm winter I now am trying to replenish my shoulder season wood. Still splitting up the huge sugar maple I got awhile back.

Don't let the milkcrate vertical splitting club sway your splitting operation. Just because they don't read the owners manual is no reason to change things! No need in having a "waffle butt" as well! :D

Thanks, the way I have been doing it seems to work pretty good. Load up the bucket and use it as a workbench. More sliding aroud than lifting. I think I make pretty good time splitting. Besides, if I was sitting down, I would fall asleep :)

I've got almost 2 cord of soft maple put up this year. Easy to split, but it burns kinda quick (burning some now from last year).

Well it sounds like it has burned a long time if it is still from last year....==c
