would there be any issue with putting a pellet stove on a floor that has black mastic adhesive underlaying the flooring provided that appliance is on the proper hearth pad? Reason I ask is that I heard that those types of adhesives are flammable.
 
If it’s on a proper hearth pad then it would matter. Just use what the manufacturer recommends.
 
The hearth pad is your protection. Just have the pad larger than the footprint of the stove. 4' x 4' is a good size.
