The old man has 12 acres of woods, he's 72, so he gets bored and likes to walk them often, so he's worn a path, he also likes to sit in the clearing, on a green patio chair and drink luke warm Busch. But he's 72, who am I to tell the guy anything, he's earned it. I think eventually he'd like to get a 4 wheeler to drive around back there so I took my Stihl 310 and my little Honda Recon 250 down to his place to help out. a LOT of holly trees in the 4-6" range, never tried to burn them, but the price is right, so they got dropped and sectioned. Then we got down to the bottom where the real wood was he needed help with, and he was right, his homeowner grade Husky with the 16" bar was not gonna do much except limb these suckers. Couple tanks of gas later I got the first tree in workable(barely) sections, mostly in the 12-16" range.
only problem was a lot of woods between me and my truck, a small path and a small 4 wheeler.
Had to use a cheapo garden cart to get the first few loads up...until...
guess they were not designed for those rounds. Sorry dad, guess I'll be getting you a new tire.
The rest being brought up was a feat, with a too small 4 wheeler and ratchet straps on the racks.Did you know 2 of those rounds and my 225 makes the front wheels come off the ground? steering sucks on a small woods path.
Suffice it to say, I have a few more trips I need to make to get the rest, and there is more to drop still...whew
loaded up and down the road, this was not what the trailer had planned on for the day, and my poor truck is dragging in the back like my mother in law.
here is the pile of cedar logs I got, these will be used as fence posts to contain my extra large mutts in the bark yard
Guess I need to get to splitting...or find a cheap used splitter
