I am a little concerned about this stuff going on w/ the tax rebate situation.
Ink has not been put to paper on the approval between the irs and epa (and what is there to consider? if you buy a new appliance this, IT IS epa approved, has to be to be sold, whats the issue?)
Nasty numbers have been coming out about the efficiency of many stoves. Some that sold themselves in brochures and other spec info, would boast 70% efficiency... now these same appliances (with no modifications) are hitting as high as 87%!!! what gives?
BIg new rumor and i am quite sure it is true: go out and buy yoursefl new windows and insulation, maybe a solar panel. then put in for a woodstove or pellet stove. go to get credit on all these items which carry tax credits, you only get one to choose from to get the credit! is this true? have heard it from some guys in the know, but...
will it all actually happen?

First the EPA has nothing whatsoever to do with it. Just the IRS. The "lower heating values" methodology of testing ignores the energy used to evaporate the moisture out of the wood, the method they use in Europe, therefore the testing yields higher efficiency numbers than the default numbers presently used that included what was used to evaporate the moisture.

As to the number of items eligible, the maximum credit you can take over the two year period is $1,500 total for 30% of what you spend on qualified improvements . No matter what the combination consists of. That is in the bill signed back in February.

Don't hold your breath waiting for a rebate. We broke y'all.

Brother Bart has it correct. The EPA loves it but the IRS is slowing up the process. Apparently some manufacturers whose products don't comply are lobbying for reduced standards and some guys who make only gas products are trying to get a piece of the pie as well. It should happen eventually but whenever the IRS is involved???.....

Also correct the credit is for 30% of the cost up to $1500.00 on any and all qualifying purchases.
