They are old, atleast 60 years.

No bloom, they took a big hit the past 3 years.

Comparable to apple in the BTU scheme of things?
 
Dogwood is good heating. The hills in CT where I grew up used to be covered with white and pink blossoms this time of year. Unfortunately they got blighted. They also were a lot of fun to shimmery up and bend over with a ride back down.
 
The Dixettes "climbing tree" is one of the victims. Good memories in that tree for both of us.
 
The wood is hard
I only take the dead ones and it seems to last for years laying on the ground

The woods here just started filling with white blooms 2 days ago, all the cultivars in peoples yards have passed a few weeks ago
 
Memories are making BTUs ;)

Close to home & still some memories left in the wood :)
