Tire in a tree?? Help solve the caper??

OK - in another thread I mentioned this tire in a tree and decided w/o pics it just is not real. For those of you in Mid-Michigan this is west of Howell on the north side of Mason road.

Ash tree confirmed and it is dead, dead but when I first saw the tire years ago, it was a live tree. The tire is at least 40' off the ground and the branch or trunk or whatever it is titled that it is hanging on I am guessing is more than 12" with way to much above it to allow the tire to be placed there even if someone was able to get up there.

So, how do you all think it got there in the first place?? For the record, I have no clue. I just find it super interesting.

If say it was placed there before the branches were there. The branch would continue to grow. Only problem is, branches don't get higher as the tree grows, so whoever put it there did it at that height.
Unless the tire is split. Its be hard to tell from 40 feet away.

They must have done it at that height but when the branch was much smaller, unless of course the tire is split. The base of the branch wouldn't get any higher but the end of the branch would.

Any way you look at it, it's very weird.

The tree's dead so I'm guessing it's probably one of those Firestone 500 radials from the 70s

I guess I could take some glass down there and try to get a better look but with the naked eye I really do not believe that tire is split. I have though of the tree trimmer with bucket truck and sense of humor but I would have ecpected it to be on the road side of the tree for that. Before the devil beetle that tree was living and you had to know the tire was there to see it in the summer.

As far as shinnying up that dead ash to get a birds eye.... not happening Maybe when she comes down in a big wind storm I will get a chance to take a really close inspection before someone cuts her up to burn!

No, no, you guys got it all wrong! That ain't no tire, it just looks like a tire. Thats one of them new dornes the Pentagon has been developing. Like the hummiingbird drone, you know, looks like a real humming bird but it carries a tiny camera and listening devices. I'm sure that tire "crash landed" and will
mysteriously disappear now that its been found and made public. Remember if someone wants to take your piucture, don't look into the flash, you may not remember your name!

By the looks of the tires, it is a VERY old model tire, like 50+ years old. Look at the sidewalls, I have seen a tire with sidewalls that went that far concave in a looooong time. So I bet it's been there for a long time. That's nuts!

I can easily picture this: "Let's put that tire up in this tree and many years from now it will drive people crazy trying to figure out how it got up there."

On the other hand, you have to admit that tire has lasted a long time. Firestones don't last that long for sure.

Maybe since it's close to the road someone blew a tire decades ago, it went air borne and there it landed. I have seen truck tires fly off in one piece and roll down interstate 78 in PA, bounce off another car and fly through the air, landing god knows where. Anything is possible!

Not sure it would burn cleanly but it sure is seasoned!!

They put it on when the tree was tiny and it grew to that height!!

HAHa be pretty bad if a forester (which i am) actually thought that!!

I was thinking someone with a sense of humor. Thats the kind of thing i would of done in high school. Dont think i would of climbed up there free Maybe if i had a bucket truck and or a climbing harness?
