I'm guessing most of you have seen this video before, but I wanted to post it for those who have not. I got a kick out of it.

He has an interesting technique of tilting the axe head as it hits the log. Might have to try that with the Fiskars and see how it works. I suppose that is the same underlying principle as the much maligned Leveraxe.

The way that he splits wood is the method that my
Grandfather taught me at age 13 some 53 years ago
My Father split wood that way and taught both my
boys the same method. It works no matter what kind
of axe you use or what you are splitting with one
exception around here and that's American Elm
and that's why I got a splitter
 
Saw that technique on a National Forestry Service video. Never think to try it.
