Need help with identifying this tree.
I have split it and wood tends to be on the heavier side, yellowish in color with brownish rings also a little stringy.
Bark was easy to remove and pretty smooth to split in splitter. Larger diameter logs showed some signs of difficulty.
Thanks in advance,
Rich

Locust?

Got any leaves for id?

Bark and your description say black locust to me.

Can you show us a split. When you say "yellow," I think mulberry.

It looks like locust, once it seasons if it's as hard as stone you will know for sure.

Unfortunately it is BL. I will gladly take it from you as no cost. I'm also in NJ.

Black locust . . . but I'm better at tree identification with leafs.
