Thanks to this forum, I just successfully cleaned my stovepipe and chimney from the bottom up. As I was tidying up afterwards though I noticed that the flue collar was a bit loose. The screws holding it in place were not making purchase with anything, I couldn't get it loose enough to get a good look at the holes in the back of the stove that the screws are supposed to attach to. But the holes looked like they were too big for the screws. The previous owners of my house had the stove installed probably 8-10 years ago. I have been operating it with no problem for 6-7 years. I somewhat sloppily replaced the flue collar gasket several years ago, but it appears to still be in place. My question is...does it matter if the flue collar is not super tight? Should the screws actually be doing something? I do have a CO detector but I still want to know how tight this connection should be.
