I was quoted to have some flashing work done. As an add on recommendation, waterproofing was recommended for 485 bucks. Is this a diy project?

As long as they're using a repellant and not a "sealer" it might be worth it.
The "sealer" has to breathe unlike paint.
A gallon of micro-seal from home depot is around 25 bucks. A bristle brush might be ten bucks.
Can you get up there safely ?

Chimney guy proposed using Chimney Saver repellant. I can easily access chimney.

I think I’ll just pay to have done while person is here anyway. Thanks

I Wouldn't recommend sealing it. It is completely unnecessary if the flashing and masonry are in good shape. And inneffective if they aren't

Does this go for the “repellant” as well?

Yes it is a waste of money. Unless you have a chimney built from an extremely pourous material it is pointless

Excellent thanks!
