Worth it to ask if it's 190 for all of but....I'm guessing he knows the going rate for wood in the area. Seems like as much of a bargain as anything else...however, as you may already know the first rule of buying firewood is to plan on it being at least wet if not totally green. Not impressed by claims of ready to burn today promises and the like. Been burned tine and time and again. Check the wood out before anything. not that you might not get lucky and have it be great stuff, but...who knows. Best of luck if you go for it.

It's obviously seasoned some by the looks of it, if your not burning til next year it will definitely be ready. I j u still bought 6 cords seasoned, a part time cutter cut it for a regular customer who moved, the wood sat stacked on his wood lot for a year because he didn't want to recut it all (it's 20 inches) to 16, so he gave me a good deal and since it's for next year or year after it will be dry.

Not bad if its dry, which it looks it. If you have the ability (or funds) to take all 5 cord, ask for a bulk discount, maybe save a few bucks. Doesn't hurt to ask.

$190 a cord is a fair price and it will be ready to burn next year. As long as it's honest 128cf cords, there's not much else to know.

Most people around here think that if it is split it is ready to burn. If it is dry, take it all.
If wet, offer maybe $100/cord and see what he says.

+1, looking dry is only one clue out of several that wood may be dry.

So did you buy it? On picture 2 there is a split to the right that I looked closely at. This wood doesnt look dry to me. I dont see any checking on the end of that one or others and see some pieces that appear to be wet. Its hard from the quality of the pictures though. When I buck up fir, split it and stack it I will get checking within a matter of days and it can still be very wet so Im not implying that checking means that the wood is dry its just the first indicator that the process has started. With the picture of the wood shed I wonder if this wood was processed and then stacked in a shed if so checking may not have occurred. Youve probably heard it before but moisture meters are cheap and fun....

20.00 moisture meter will tell the truth. Otherwise, it is a gamble. And in most cases the buyer looses.

Yes with that kind of wood at this time of year it will likely be ok if processed properly so it isnt much of a gamble but buyers of firewood are often misled. Buyer "Is this firewood dry?" Seller "yes it will burn!" Buyer "Thats not what I asked!" If this was me buying it I wouldnt be happy to be told that it was dry if its not. I guess the only way to find out is if the op fills us in.

I once had a cord of wood delivered which was truly dry. After several failed attempts after that and then me giving up on claims of dryness, I now put that dry delivery in the same category of miracles as the seas parting.
