Going to get more snow than they predicted. Already have about 3” and forecasting another 3-5 so we’ll see. Hickory, ash, and oak to start the day.
I just got in from cleaning up about 2-3” off the driveway. That temp is dropping fast and the wind is whipping! Temps drop off tonight in this area to below zero with winds in the 30mph range. I think we are mostly done with snow for the day but maybe a squall or 2 isn’t out of the question.
Last nights load of sugar maple is coaling unbelievably, it’s a great firewood for this time of year. house is at 72 which is fine, gonna get things good and warm for tonight.

Early reload here as I have to go to rock climbing with my daughter. An inch of snow on the ground, howling winds.
18 outside feels like 6.
Upstairs 69.

White and red oak curved pieces, a small slab of locust. Gotta avoid having to play catch-up when I get home around 3.

Heaviest snow for us forecasted for this afternoon, winds haven’t picked up too much yet but suppose to increase as the day goes on

Still snowing here, guess I should go out and snow blow sooner than later, as the cold air is supposed to come in late this afternoon. Shops still sitting at 50, just getting out her to relight it with some pine and ash.

Running low on wood, probably have to clean a better path to my stack so I can roll a few wheel barrows full in later.

Winds here started last night. The real cold took awhile to settle in. Guessing it was around 11pm.
Currently -3* with a real feel of -26.

The dragon is feasting on bits of red and white oaks for coaling. Accompanied with black ash, silver and red maples, and some splits of popular. Feeding a little more often with the lesser worthy fuel, hence the oak scraps to help with coal bed maintenance. Spent time yesterday and Thurs, digging stuff out of the snow and processed. Some unfinished splits that I broke down more of W oak and beech. A lot of wild cherry limb wood up to 6'' dia. Same with R oak with some bigger and soft maples. The popular I found was all about 8'' dia. Oh....and of course, ash. I grabbed that pile of petrified R oak limb wood too. That was almost 3 wheelbarrows worth. All in all a good 2 face cord in the lair. I covered the exterior door with 4'' foam board and tarped it. This way I didn't have to get it all out of the stairwell. It's keeping most of the cold out of the lair. The felt cold air is not bad at all. Half of the wood is moved now. Once it's all moved I'll seal up the interior door, and start cooking the lair. The box fan is on stand by to turn the lair into a kiln.....lol.

Stay warm fellas.

-10/70 right now. Some oak going full bore right now. Wind is ripping. You can see why a flue damper is fully necessary for me. .10 iwg with no wind and with the gusts it gets to over .2

i cleared the coals from the center of the firebox casting them off to the left and right. Plopped a stack of spruce on the stove floor and the coals immediately did their thing. This will get me by to tonight’s reload. Cold, cold, cold out there with that wind out of the west…

Where do you have the Auber thermocouple installed?

We missed the snow but not the wind. Gusting over 50 occasionally, thankfully no ice(or leaves) on the trees. It's rare we get high wind warnings. Temp was 31 at 4a, 19 at 7a, and it ain't moved in spite of full sun. Knock on wood no outage here yet. The county south of us has 30% of our co-ops customers out. F45 burning small hot loads with this wind., no downdrafts so far. Take care all.

Came home from rock climbing and my wife had dialed down the stove when she left, so upstairs is 66. Dialed it all the way to 5 pm (6 pm is fully open). Also switched on the mini split to help get back up to temp as playing catch up from the basement is not ideal.

10 outside with I think 40-50 mph wind. Feels like -8...

RealFeel is 3C/ 37F
So essentially warm here. We had about an hour of sun, but not a wet as forecast so I went to the my dry wood pile to cut and split instead of exercise indoors. I needed more kindling and I still have loads of elm and oak to split. Was feeling good today and the elm was splitting a bit more easily than usual; that Siberian Elm can be a bear split.

End of the day I came in and cold started the Délice.

Chestnut/ whit oak/ elm/ hazel

Just came in from my last pass of snow blowing, shops sitting at 72 from my afternoon load of ash and maple. 15 outside, but the breeze is chilly. I was able to get a good path the the wood stack so tomorrow ill bring some more wood in here.

It’s nice sitting by the stove to warmup and melt the snow off my boots. Might have to toss another piece or two on before the overnight in an a few hrs.

Saw the temp upstairs go down by 0.1 F. Can't have that...
A 3/4 load of pine, spruce, and sassafras on the coals of the 10 am load of today.

Stove was getting too cold, had to toss a few pieces on to get to my overnight burn. Tossed in a pine, maple and ash split.

Temps really dropped, it’s 7 outside, 64 inside. STT 280 and warming up. CATs at 540 and ramping slowly. That’s been the story of the day, the storm has kept my CAT temps low since yesterday.

Overnight reload on, continuing with a mix of hickory, ash and maple with 1 small piece of pine on top for a last burst of heat in the am.

Has a pretty nice bed of coals from the splits I tossed on a few hrs ago, and left on 75% air.

Outside 5, inside 66, STT 430, CAT was at 1076 when I left and ramping, with the air a crack past full close. I was getting some dancing secondary flames when I left too.

Hopefully she keeps it above 50 overnight, predicting lows close to 0.

Oak and hickory tonight. Need those BTUs. Boiler will help out in bedrooms tonight. Real feel by 7am is -30*F. Current conditions below. Can really hear that draft howling with these temps and wind. Plan on running this one hot for most of the night, 6 am reload tomorrow morning before work.

Reload of two white oak, one locust, and a few massive red oak splits. No pic because it was too hot for my phone (or ungloved hands).
Outside is 4, with a wind-chill of -17.
Upstairs is 70, aided by the mini split.
