We had 29.3 this morning, a few shoulder season fires had it 70 up here.

Tonight it's 33.1, the second shoulder season fire just got started.

Season light off. Later than usual this year. Got to 37F. Threw some oak splits in let her rip. New probe thermometer works great, it's good to be back!!

I hear ya! Seems even shorter when you're living in the hills. I'm at about 1500' in elevation. At least I'm not up by the @thewoodlands homestead. He's got elevation and the cold of the north.

Working on that. We lightened our "luggage" that was sipping funds and driving up the utilities.
Getting finances reorganized, and taking care of business. Hopefully work picks up a little more too.

I would say this time is perfect for me right now, as we move into the colder months where I am I agree with you! Although I get to try out my new gas furnace this winter so that might make me a bit biased.

First little fire of the season with brand new cat. Just a tiny load of 3 pieces of punky ash as I really just wanted to take draft readings to see if I needed another section of pipe. got down to around 40 last night. Only 2nd season with the stove this new cat already seems more active then the one that came with the stove. So I’m excited to see if the heat output will be improved this year.

Yes I know but I was suspecting a weak draft last year (but never tested it) since with all my elbows and tee I’m borderline on the minimum height chimney wise for my stove per BK so just wanted to be sure so I could order another section before it got cold if I needed it.

Friday morning we had 28, we had a few shoulder season fires that night & in the morning. This morning it was 39, we had one shoulder season fire last night and one this morning.

The house was 66 so I ran the furnace about 7 minutes.

I forget what stove are you running? A liberty? And how many cords do you average a year. I’m assuming a decent amount since your season starts much earlier than ours
