What Is In Your Stove Right Now?

  • Active since 1995, Hearth.com is THE place on the internet for free information and advice about wood stoves, pellet stoves and other energy saving equipment.

We strive to provide opinions, articles, discussions and history related to Hearth Products and in a more general sense, energy issues.

We promote the EFFICIENT, RESPONSIBLE, CLEAN and SAFE use of all fuels, whether renewable or fossil.
A nice Norway Spruce load for the first fire of the season, a couple pics also. First is the last, last time I will see the BK logo that is 😉 it slowly disappears as the season progresses. No point in cleaning the glass as it lasts about a day.

Nothing! It was 28 yesterday morning and I made some kindling. Had to head off to work and PT, got home it was 60! Just not fair. Wife says "just wait until we move to the new house and have the new KE40. Not happening! Next cold snap, the match is going to get struck.

Just a reminder to all us wood burners...

I was recently contacted about a new wood stove user survey. I told them the bet place to get responses is this site! Here is the email I received explaining the survey and how you as a wood burner can participate.

BKVP

Lawrence Berkeley Labs invites you to participate in the , Residential Wood Heater Survey a research study led by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) in collaboration with Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Bioenergy Technologies Office.

What to Expect:
● The survey will take approximately 15–20 minutes to complete.

Woman will never understand a man’s need to play with fire lol

Gonna split and stack this ironwood off to the side, so I can burn it for a couple days exclusively. Excited to see what it’s capable of, in a year or two of course.

What's in the Dragon's belly? Still a small load of last season's ashes. Have had some cold evenings.....heated the rooms we are occupying with a couple LP space heaters.

Tearing out the old liner and rebuilding the top of the chimney. Combination of reconstructing a couple top courses, adding a couple courses, and some repointing.

Hopefully you can get it finished up before the really cold weather sets in

Still no coin for the liner yet. I'll probably be forced to buy the cheap crap. Corrugated junk.
Gonna need that wood furnace eating..... is what it is.

Meh. I mean it still works fine assuming you insulate it you shouldn’t have any problems for getting plenty of years out of it
No room for insulation. Leaving the clay liner for easier termination, along with what's in the budget.
My goal is an OWB anyway. This chimney will end up being emergency back-up when all is said and done.
