Having a Jotul 500 installed in our house that is being built. Stove is going in the corner of the family room. How high should the base be?

I have always liked a 12" - 16" tall base. It's nice for sitting and easier to load your stove.

According to many owners here the F500 loads much better from the side than the front. However, in a corner install the stove has pretty large clearances for the loading side. Are you taking that into account for your install?

As high or as low as you want it . . . only needs ember protection . . . so the height of the hearth can be pretty much whatever you want.
