What's air wash??

Ok sorry for all the questions guys but as u know , I'm new at this. I'm buying my 1st p stove tonight and installing sat. I was all set to get the king pellet stove at tsc for 1100. Then a friend showed me an add at menards for a pro pellet home deluxe. It has 5 k more btu"s and is at 999. Only thing diff I see is the king has 2 blowers and the propeller has one with an air wash?? Can someone explain or tell me which one i should go with?? Thank you in advance

I don't know which stove you should go with, but air wash usually refers to the path air enters the stove runnng past the glass in order to keep smoke from settling on it and thus keeping a cleaner window. Which stove you should get has more to do with your specific setup and needs. If you post details about that there are many people here on the forum that will chime in and provide their oppinions.

Ok I get it, guess the only thing that scares me about the pro pellet ad - it dosnt say it has e haustoria fan. It just states it has 265cfm fan to radiate heat. I was told I should have an exhaust fan by a friend at work. I'm running this stove in large fireplace and will run pipe right through the chimmeney about 25ft. Thank u for the reply

You might be referring to a "distribution" fan to move the warm air and an "exhaust" fan to vent the stove. Maybe that will help you to clarify your decision? Which one gets hot and moves the most hot air... if thats what your looking to do.

This may be a generalization but 99% of pellet stoves have an "exhaust" fan that doubles as a "combustion" fan as well as a "distribution fan". So...2 fans. The exhaust/combustion fan blows exhaust up the chimney liner and sucks fresh air in through the firebox to do that causing combustion. The "distribution" fan blows air through the heat exchanger and out into the room (only fresh air...no firebox air). There are some weird ones that work differently but not many. Air wash just keeps the glass cleaner and as stated before has more to do with cosmetics than performance.

That's great info brothers and thank u all very much. I just got home with my stove- it's like Xmas here!! I'm so excited, however I bought all this 3in pipe and directions say to use 4in if going over 15ft tall. I called store and they said use 3?? Any advice bros?

Look up the concept of EVL. It stands for equivalent vertical length. If your EVL is under 15, you should be fine with 3" pipe. If you are over 15, then you'll need 4" pipe.

Best thing to do is read the installation manual thoroughly 3 times. The answers to your questions are usually in there. There should be detailed instructions on the necessary venting set up and materials.

Hey fellas. Well I went with the pro pell 50k btu. Will be a good first stove, next year or after I will move up to a harman. Got up early, switched from 3in pipe to 4inch. Got the cover off the chimney, wi da blowing 457mph and it's 32 out IM DONE!! Nothing is going right, I'm getting more mad by the minute. Therefore I'm gonna drink an ass-load of Budweiser and watch Ohio state in a bit!! Pay a pro to Install it. Standing 50ft in the air, wind blowing like crazy, and trying to fish 28ft of pipe in this square hole. Not my bag!! Anyway will let u know when it gets done! And thank you all for ur help Go bucks!!
