One adjustment for me will be not wasting anymore time with kindling. Started using the super cedars last few weeks this spring, they are as good as advertised.

Looking foward to burn season 16/17, will be the first time I have managed to get 2 years ahead. And by 17/18 season should get me to 3 years ahead. 14 cord c/s/s right now in the yard. If I can maintain that pace I can improve to 3 years ahead.

Still need to do a thorough cleaning of stove and liner.

Wood for next year is stacked and ready, and has been for 3 years. Kindling is ready. Chimney and stove need cleaned which I want to get to this week. Done burning - stove becomes something to set stuff on for the next 4 months.

Flue brushed and stove cleaned (internally) last month. Thankfully we're three years ahead on firewood. Next season's stacks aren't covered yet, we typically wait 'til August to pull the covers on.

Kindling, well that's a mixed bag. Anything small and dry will do - peeled off bark, small branches and sticks, splitter scraps. If it hasn't gotten rained on recently it will serve. We can make kindling if need be but that doesn't happen often.

Just burned last night, stoves are still warm. You must live in a banana belt or use some other form of heat!

The wood collecting is under way. In my area the mud season is all winter so the wood season is all summer. I have a huge pile of rounds, at least four cords, to split but that will be 17/18 wood. 16/17 wood has been cut, split, and stacked for years.

Yup, all set to go.

I had the pros in during late April to do a level II annual service on the stove, complete with video camera on a string. House is listed, if it sells the stove (and wood) is ready to light. If it doesn't sell, the stove and wood is ready to go.

Wood is ready, haven't cleaned stove out but no hurry. Last years cleaning yielded less than a cup of powder from the chimney. I expect about the same this year.

I usually think about cleaning all summer then clean the week before I need to start burning

The info that came with my maple evaporator years ago said damp ash would form a lye that would eat through most any metal over time - So, I always figured why give it a chance? Clean those ashes out!

Pretty much the same as begreen. This year I think I will have to replace the secondary steel burn plate though, something I have to do every 3-5 years. The 26 year old stove otherwise is in great condition.

Since we just moved into our new house we are as ready as possible. Have about 2.5 - 3 cords of wood cut and split and the oldest piles will be over a year old before we light the stove in November. Not perfect but the best we can do at the present. We cant use all the wood up this coming year so for the winter starting October 2017 the wood will be perfect. We continue to cut when the hot weather escapes us so we can have a supple of wood seasoned 2 years from now on out.
About 1 rick is stacked on the covered back porch. Plan on splitting a nice pile of kindling when we get a cool day.

I've got a few wadded up newspapers and a little kindling in mine. Waiting on the hornets to build their nest up under the rain cap. After that mid-summer fire, I'll brush it out on a cool day (95* yesterday). Come on FALL!

Wood for this coming winter was actually put in the shed last year . . . and wood for next year was put in a month or two ago . . . and wood for the winter three years for now has been cut, split and stacked a few weeks ago.

Woodstove is partly clean . . . but I haven't swept the chimney or done the more detailed cleaning/inspection that I like to do . . . if I am lucky I may get to that sometime before I start burning again the Fall.

2 cords seasoned 2 years stacked on the back deck already (my "can't get to the stacks emergency stash"). I'm adding another 2-3 rows (4' high 7' long) for added measure, after having a mild winter last year, I'm thinking it could get nasty this winter.

Wood rings for both stoves are already full with semi seasoned (one + years, not quit 2), and will bask in the glow of the AC for the summer.

Saved up every scrap of manageable bark, splitter trash, etc in milk crates, older garbage cans whore bottoms have cracks, etc.

1 1/2 cord under an over hang by the basement door. 2 cords 5' away from the door closest to the 13, with 1/2 a cord under the eaves ready to pull in for the 13.

The Dixette & my Mom bought me this for Christmas, ready to lock and load, and bring it inside as I need it

Swept both chimneys in March, not to worried about cleaning. But will check both of them in September.

I thought I was the only one who used this term! Well done! My emergency stash from last winter sat all winter since it was so mild. It will be nice to not have to stack wood under the deck come October this year.

I do this too, now I have a mountain of firestarter that again I'm glad I don't have to worry about gathering up this summer. Way to go!

Haven't even cleaned the ash out from the last fire yet. I plan on pulling the whole unit this summer and oiling the fans. I'm thinking it may be time for a new cat.
I'm not looking forward to running the brush down from a hot roof. Although running the brush down on a cold windy roof was no fun...
The wood pile is two years out which, unfortunately, is the max I can handle on my tiny lot.

Chimney will get cleaned in late August or early September as usual. The sweeps have a bit of a trip to make it out here so they prefer to wait until there is more demand.

It's together, I just have to tighten down the nuts & bolts. Even came with a cover, so if it rains, the firewood can sit on the back landing on rainy / not too heavy snowy days.
