Why do some wood stove or fireplaces below 2.0 g/h not meet EPA 2020?

OK, so the Husky may have a poor implementation. That is not the issue with the regs, but with the manufacturer. We saw the same thing happen with the stove industry. Jotul started adding cats to their cast iron line. Some were poorly designed. Eventually Jotul redesigned based on a secondary tube or rack configuration. They didn't go out of business, but did change their design to a more reliable implementation which has worked fine for about 20 yrs. now. When Lopi and Avalon came out with the first tube designs they were steel tubes and just ok burners. Over time the added another tube and went to stainless. This really helped with reliability and efficiency. Now we are seeing several hybrid solutions from mfgs. Some are good, and some need a little refinement. It's the nature of things.
