Wood Fireplace Chimney Advice needed

I am looking to run a wood burning stove in my concrete basement ( after insulation). It currently has a double flue chimney with a traditional wood burning fireplace on the floor above. Am I able to hook up a stove pipe straight into that 6 inch Inside diameter pipe on the wall and run it via the second flue?
thanks, appreciate any advice on a good model to do this ( about 900 sq ft.) I'm on a bit of a budget so anything reliable will do.

Possibly as long as that flue is in good condition. Way built up to code to start with. And is sized properly for the stove you choose.

ok thanks , so its really just a try it and see? The fireplace above works well and when I put a cap ( copper lid) on the chimney both flues looked similar size and clean. i was thinking about an Englander 27 or a Drolet columbia.

Has the chimney been inspected by a qualified pro?

No it hasn't and I can't get anyone to look at it till late October. But I guess you're saying there's too many variables here to give advice?

There really is no way for us to know If the chimney is safe to use without a full inspection
