Gasp, those pieces of junk? Come on, it aint a saw unless it weighs at least 15 pounds and has more than 5hp.smokinjay said:fm said:sweet.......only drawback is i now have to add a chainsaw to my arsenal, first scrounge was all 18 and under so added a splitting ax to go with my maul, now this load all 20 and better and 18 is about max for the monty......i am certainly getting myself in deep here......any ideas for a decent chain, only to be used to cut scrounged rounds, no0t going to be in the forrest
A stihl ms, 180 or 250. Keep it simple....Echo has some good home owner saws aswell. 180 for a couple hundo's is a good little saw.

I didn't think these words would ever leave my lips, but in your situation a *gasp* electric saw might make sense for shortening up the occasional small round around the house.

On a serious note, what he said! MS170/180/250 will all do just fine for you. I cut my entire first year on a used MS170 I bought off craigslist for less than $100. I stocked up a 5+ year supply of wood in that years time and that saw still runs great!
