Yep, looks like black cherry to me.

Some of that looks like cherry, but the splits in the middle are something else, I think sass.

Yes, I was surprised at the color inside, cherry sass and ash popped up in my mind when I was picking it up but I'm not sure, on Sunday I'm going back for more, I'm gonna take pics of separated different looking rounds so we can get more exact, at first I thought it was all cherry, then when I split it I said this isn't black cherry......

Cherry and Sass. Anything that looks like it might be Ash bark appears to have the orange inner bark which would indicate Sass. More split pics may be in order.

Got some more last night....notice the berries on the leaves that that are attached to the round, also the brightness of the wood under the bark, then the third pic is split in half, thanks, let me know what you think it is....

The berry drupes and the leaves are Sassafras.

I see some rounds that seem to have lighter color, not like the Sass. When in doubt, go with nrford. Might be one of the other Ash types...still not looking like White Ash to me. Then I see some bark on the left that doesn't look like any of those. Frankly, I'm baffled on the pics we have so far. The two split wood pics look like the same stuff to me....the Sass. When you gonna stack it, so we can see more split pics?

The photos I possibly see a piece of ash in is the first two, the piece on the top of the stack with what appears to be light colored wood with the irregular brown heart and no bark on it. Everything else is either Sass or Cherry. Perhaps lighting is messing with me on that one piece, sorry if I have caused confusion.

I will try to get more pic over the weekend, most of it looks like the sass that you guys say it is as well as AS. Then there is some black cherry, now when I get to that stack next, I will look for a third species, but thank you all for helping, I will get some splits done as soon as I can, just very busy now.....

You've got a mix of cherry, ash, and sassafras by the looks of it. Looks like my stacks. LOL!

That sass dries quick and although it burns pretty quick, I enjoyed using it this past winter.

Yeah, once you start splitting there won't be any problem IDing the Sass and Cherry...

If I had to guess which ones nrford was referring to, the 4 rounds in the bottom-middle of your stack look really similar to the green ash I scored a few weeks ago. You shouldn't have any trouble IDing that either once you start splitting it, if it is ash. Splits just like white ash.
