I'm seeing sassafras with the splits in the first pic. Maybe a round or two of pine in the 2nd pic but the rest is sassafras.

Hmmm...I never think of sassafras. It is not common in my neck of the woods. It could be....

Looks like sass to me.
I cut a few small ones back in June and just burned it. Mine looked
Just like that. The orange under the bark give it away. Did it smell like root beer?

Seasons quick, low btu's. Splits super easy.
 
One of the woods the X27 fanatics are splitting and boasting how they could blow away a hydraulic splitter.
Better smell than BTUs but that smell, is really heavenly. Not much not to like about Sassy.
