Is it all from one tree?
I dont know if Red maples can get that big. I think Red because of the red pigment in the inner bark.

I believe it's all one tree. Some of the smaller pieces look like maple but the bark on the larger pieces is much more corse than the silver maple in my front yard.

Wow. All that was delivered for free? It looks like it's all soft maple to me, but I wouldn't mind. I burn a cord +/- of that every year.

I burn about 80% maple. Get it split and stacked and it could be ready next year. I c/s/s/ mine for 2 years and use about 2-3 cord a year. Most everybody around here will not walk across the street for it but I get all I can get my grubby hands on. Love the stuff.

The first two photos don't work on my computer, but the second two show what appears to be silver Maple. The big pieces are a close match for Silver. The wood in the second photo looks more like Sugar Maple, but Silver and Sugar are pretty similar in appearance. Silver Maple - final answer.

Silver maple around here looks nothing like that wood. Bark is similar but that that heartwood....not around here.

I agree Silver maple. I burn a lot of it. Silver maple wood can look different depending on where it is growing. Can be very white if the soil is on the dry side, or like some in the picture if it grows in a swampy or wet area it can look very brown. It drys fairly quickly and will burn quickly compared to Sugar maple Oak Locust etc. But it catches easily and burns hot. Good score.
