Wood stove connection?

Hello,

I have a question regarding the connection of my wood stove. I have a pacific energy summit model and evidently it did not come with a collar for connection to the flue liner (not sure if it should have or not). I had a company come clean it today and when they pulled it out from the fireplace they noticed that the install company had squeezed the flue liner into the hole on the top of the insert and packed it with some sort of caulking. Is this okay to do? The cleaning company said there needed to be a collar on the stove and bracket on the flue liner in order to securely attach the members together. I guess I wanted to know before I start complaining to the install company about their sloppy work.

Do you maybe mean the connector for the liner? The insert certainly should have the flue collar. See the pic in this thread:

The upper (hand-held) part should have come with the liner and be installed by the company you hired. If they did not do that I would certainly complain.

Btw. Why did the sweep need to pull the insert from the fireplace? With a full liner, the baffle can be removed and the soot will fall into the firebox.

Here's a pic of the top of my stove. Not sure why there isn't a flue collar there but you can see the caulk broken away.

I think the sweep pulled the insert out bc I complained that I couldnt get a draw going with the insert and just proceeded to fill the house with smoke. I guess he wanted to check the connections? As u can see from the pic it looks like the previous sweep in February just pushed all of the creosote down the liner and created a blockage right above the stove.

It looks like a liner connector was put on, but it didn't fit well. That is a very heavy crimp in the connector that was covered up by metal tape. Metal tape does not belong on a single-wall flue pipe. It also looks like this install wants a 15 or 30 deg elbow.
