good morning and hello

I bought a 1982 Englander IC model woodstove we picked up at auction.
Does this model have a catalytic converter? I cannot find conclusive 411 online. Also, it has a front slide damper and a side pull damper on the stove itself. what is optimal use of each?

thanks

Is this an Englander 24-IC or 24-ICD stove? If yes, then it is catalytic. The side control is the cat bypass. The front slider is the air control. IIRC, the bypass control gets pulled all the way out to bypass the catalytic converter for starting fires. Then, once the cat has warmed up and the fire is burning well, the bypass control gets pushed in to engage the cat.
