Oh my, I am trying to decide if I should wait another week to begin planting my garden. soil temperature is hovering just above 40 degrees. On the other hand, it gives me more time to keep preparing my biochar which I get plenty of from my cat stove.

It started out here a week ago with temps in the nineties and has been gaining heat moving eastward. The good news is that it has been followed by a chilly spell. Our high today has been 61º. Not great for the garden, but we're not complaining.

I’m already trying to up my water drinking and trying to flush myself out before Wednesday when my plans are all going to go bad, with the heat. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to drink enough water to offset what sweats out!

That's a sizzler, we could be in for some high winds of 60 mph with hot temps. Our maximum heat index that I saw on a NOAA map was 95.

Check in on elderly neighbors and friends. Make sure they have working AC and if not, a cooler backup location to go to. Most of the 1000+ deaths in the past week in France have been the elderly.

Usually in the past it took 10000 years to warm the planet up 3degC. Now it appears it's going to be 200 years

I think 103 with a heat index ("feels like") of 115 qualifies as severe weather.
Dang it was hot.
I did so some things outside today, but in stretches of 30 minutes with 30 minutes break inside where the mini split was keeping things nice.

Our compressor is on the south side of our house, in full sun until 2.30 pm
So I put our deck umbrella with a ground (beach) screw in anchor there to keep it in the shade.
System was managing well but ... This way it'll cost less kwh...

I’ve seen where people misted water onto the AC heat exchangers. If water was cheap, this seemed like it’d really pull the heat out of the unit!

Yes. I did.clean it today (water only). Wasn't needed but doesn't hurt either..
Fan immediately went down in speed.

I'm still waiting to see a mini split condenser with a condensate inlet so you can use the condensate water to cool the condenser. Like what a window AC does.

June was a weird month, we've got a ton of rain, had 3 funnel clouds sightings (which is quite abnormal for us), thunderstorms every few days. It's even raining again now.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, it beats wildfire smoke that we've had every summer for the last decade, and our forests and wetlands desperately need it. Just an interesting departure from the past few years.

We are just starting to come out from a cold spell with high temps around 61º. Looking forward to the return of sun and 70s.
