It's been coming down hard here the last hour.

Nothing for us, so far. I checked the NWS a few minutes ago and it isn't good. 24+ inches for my area. They will take great care of the roads, but my digging out here is going to be a multi day affair if the numbers hold. I'm as ready as I can be.
@MRD1985 it looks like it is going to be a fun 24 hours for your area too!

Yessir! 24” plus forecasted here with 50-60mph winds. And I’m working tomorrow thru Wednesday!

Starting to snow now

Boston seemed to be the target the last I checked. We don't get it in PEI still later tomorrow. I am in a medium snow zone, but probably high wind too. I already have a lot of snow on my garage and house.

Little bit south of Boston is the sweet spot. A little west of the cape and north slightly. We’re in the highest totals area where I live in RI also

I guess this won't be happening

I saw an exit for Dix Hills! I was like , Oh…

The town was really cute! Gas was pricey though! It was cheaper on the thruway by over 50c/gal!

;lol ;lol ;lol ;lol

No, not quite, lmao !!

Further East :)

We have about 8" on the ground, and much in the trees too. All vertical surfaces are coated because of the wind and the sticky snow. There is even a 1" thick layer on the sides of the 1/2" metal sticks of the railing at the steps to the front door. That surprised me.

I also posted this in the other thread mentioning the storm ... I'm Metrowest Boston. Forecast is 12 -18". Looks to be on course for that based on seeing what the neighbor across the street blew off his driveway.

National Weather Service has posted totals over 30" in some locations in RI already.

My snow blower engine is dying. Excessive blowby under load. Need to keep an eye on oil level. Hope I can get through the rest of this year. Will buy a new snow blower later this year.

Maybe this should be in the work done thread...

I shoveled from 9 am to 1 pm. I'm about 75% done
No way that say how much we got, as the winds were so high that I see one place around a tree where everything blew away and see a few grass leaves, but the majority of the yard, and driveway, is 2.5 ft or so
Many places it got to my family jewels.

One square yard in the driveway had 13". The road easily is 26",.where no drifts are.

Funny thing is that my Mazda 2 with snow looks like a Tesla cyber truck now... Bigger than the cleaned RAV4

Different location.
I'm done.
Then and only then came the plow going thru at least 20" on the road.
Nicely compressed and back on my driveway.
Turns out the plow had gotten stuck. So we were the last street.
Then the plow got stuck again in our street. Took 30 mins to dig him out.

Done that too..
Now I'm pooped.

I’m inland but my parents are coastal. Man the coastal was like cement. I have a 8524 ariens there and it deserves a day off after dealing with the end of the driveway and in front of the mailbox. I did across the streets mailbox too as they only have a single stage blower.
At home i still had piles 3-4’ tall from pushing snow last storm. Now they are 7’ or so. This was a great storm for the snow lovers!

I’ve seen some pics and videos from out your way. Amazing! Good luck to you guys!

It’s unreal. Snow drifts that are 8 feet or more in spots. Many streets completely impassable. Even with a plow. This is going to take a long time to dig out. And I still have another 36 hours to go at work 😭. Been the day from hell today.

I feel your pain! I dug out 19 fire trucks and rescues, 2 DPW plow trucks and a large tri axle rotator semi. Me and 3 other guys.

Official total for our area. 38”. Breaks the blizzard of 1978 by 10”. Absolutely a snow apocalypse. Never seen anything this.
Haven't heard anything from my friends in the Berkshires. Hope all is ok. Here are the official tallys from the AP.

NOAA said early Tuesday that Rhode Island gets top honors for 37.9 inches, a preliminary state record, at the airport in Providence. And as of 3 a.m., snow totals weren’t complete for Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island, where the storm’s remnants were passing through. Other top state accumulations so far:
  • Massachusetts: 37 inches in Bliss Corner, 31.8 inches in Norton, 31 inches in Berkley and Somerset
  • Rhode Island: 36.2 inches in Warwick, 36 inches in North Kingstown, 33 inches in Narragansett
  • New York: 31 inches in Islip, 22.5 inches at Laguardia, 22 inches in Washington Heights, 20.1 inches at JFK, 19.7 inches in Central Park
  • New Jersey: 29.5 inches at Bogota, 27.1 at Newark Airport
  • Connecticut: 27.7 inches in Killingly
  • Pennsylvania: 22.3 inches in Langhorne
  • Delaware: 21 inches in Long Neck
  • Maryland: 16 inches in Bishopville

That Islip one sounds about right for what I think I got tho I'm a bit away from them.
The wind made it hard to estimate things here

Yes, drifting snow can skew measurement if the measuring guage is not sheltered.

I was more or less in the Berkshire’s yesterday. At like 11am Monday, they had like 8” on the road. I don’t think they’d plowed during the weekend.

Spoiler. The “Providence” airport is actually in Warwick, where I live. Airport is 2-3 miles from my house.
Lucky you. That was ground zero!

I have no idea how much we got. I'd have to look it up. We had a lot of wind. Most of my snow went into drifts. I went though about a tank and a half of gas over about 2 hours. The drifts were taller than my auger by about 4 inches in places. I had to do the old run it up on an incline, then back up, and go ahead again. Wind was blowing too so I had to always blow to one side, sometimes over my Jeep. Then of course my 50 year old garage door decided it was the right time to let the cable come of on one side so it wouldn't close. I just piled snow along the gap as I didn't feel like playing with that (again). That was the biggest storm since I've lived here, but I've seen similar back in Ontario.

I got an update this morning, 10" in Falls Village.
