Held off until yesterday, a little rule for me is to wait until November 1st to start. It was almost broken this year with a cold Halloween.

New seal on front doors. Everything cleaned and inspected, looked great.

Started off with pine splits for kindling. Had a small fire to get everything acclimated then cranked her up yesterday evening with some 2yr ash and 2.5-3yr red oak. She was cooking.

This picture is from this morning.

I love this time of year, fall season, deer season translate into the holidays. Just never seem to get all of my todo's done outside.

Nice start-up. I couldn't hold off as long as you did. Had about 10 quick non over nighters here in October , Those are the fires I use to get rid of the "uglies " . Have a nice day.

Thanks. Built the hearth myself. Could have done better but it was in a pinch. We are on an "all electric" house and December was coming up quick. Had to get it done(2012). It's an older farm house that I grew up in so I knew how much the bill would be otherwise.

Grew up with an old stove in this same location. Learned my lesson on burning green wood the first season. Still working on getting 3-4 years ahead.

Stove is located in the heart of the kitchen and what was living room before the addition.

It makes for a nice morning back drop with cooking pancakes and having the wife there feeding junior. Good times.

Your Quad looks great. I love this time of year. No bugs in the woods. I'm scurrying to get my wood in before the bullets start flying in a couple of weeks.
