Hey guys,

Got a craigslist special. Free to whoever cuts and takes it.

Its weight is about 35 pounds per 18" long round at about 14" diameter.

Split really easy, and already sounds hollow when you bang two pieces together.

Just under the bark is very stringy. Im assuming its poplar, but still dont have an eye for trees yet.

Thanks in advance.

I was going to say Poplar as well, because of the off color heart wood.

Thanks guys. I figured it was poplar. Free is free and its on the way home from work.

Today i got a cord of red maple cut and split. Ill stack it tomorrow if my back will allow me.

Thanks again.

poplar should be bone dry. it smokes like a steam train if it has even a little moisture and doesn't hiss
