I've burned quite a bit of yellow birch, haven't noticed this before now. I knock the bark of a couple of splits on the weekend and see some tracks (a couple semi-punky / uglies were in the mix). Never heard of the "bronze birch borer" before, but a bit of googling around seems to indicate that's what it might be? Anyway, just thought it was interesting.
