Calling for Wood ID Experts

Ok you Tree ID Guys what do I have here.

I took down a clump of 5 of these mangy, skinny, somewhat tall trees and thought I was dealing in some garbage wood (which can still be the case). These were beasts to pull out of the ground - the tap roots went straight down and all roots were stringy and very hard to break through - it was kind of comical as I thought it would take a hour to push them over and four hours later I was still digging.

Anyhow - planted a axe into on of the side and found very dense wood. So I am thinking my work wasn't in vain - can someone school me as to what I have here?

Ailanthus. Hard, dense and stinky when green. It can feel like honey locust. But then it gets light as a feather when dry.

Does Ailanthus grow like Staghorn sumac? Is that why you dug up the roots? Will it grow back thicker if you dont?

Thanks for the ID- yep - thats what have - wow - just did a little research on the Tree to Heaven and how evasive these things really are (kind of like a zebra mussel for the woods).
I also on the fence if it is even worth it to burn in my stove. Everything I read about this tree is bad. Glad I ripped it out. Funny though since I have also read I will see shoots spring up even if I rip out all the roots.

As to why I dug it up - I hate stumps and love to put in seat time on my Kubota.

Ah, so it IS like Sumac. I was wondering. I think some people burn it here. Gotta do something with it, right? If I cut sumac thats really large I cut it into stove lengths but it usually ends up in a brush pile that gets burned. Seat time is always good time. The sprouts if any will probably sucumb to RoundUp easily enough.

Hit them quick and often. If they get any size to them they can even shake off RoundUp.
